Type XXVIIB Seehund (Seal) mini-sub was a small two-man design used by Germany in the last months of WWII. It could carry two torpedoes. Its small size and quiet propulsion systems made it a difficult target for Allied ASW forces, but it had a limited endurance and diving depth. 35 were lost on operations but achieved the sinking of nine Allied merchant vessels while damaging three more.
This is the ICM kit in 1/72 scale. The wooden stand was built from Evergreen stock. The model was weathered with oils, I wanted to simulate the contrasting look of a battered and worn submarine with two new shiny torpedoes. Another small subject and a quick, enjoyable build.
I have this kit and it is high on my list to build. I’d love to hear more about your experience building it.

It’s a simple kit and not a difficult build at all. I did cast a clear piece for the transparent dome, it is molded as a standard plastic piece in the kit. The rudder assembly is delicate and needs a little care when building to get the alignment right. You will need to fabricate something to make it stand upright when you’re done, I just went with the simple wooden stand you see here.
