Messerschmitt Bf 109 F-4 Trop of 6. / JG 5, Petsamo Finland,  August 1942, pilot Rudolf Müller, Fine Molds kit.

Oberfeldwebel “Rudi” Müller had quite a run while piloting this aircraft, during September he added eighteen additional victories to his scoreboard.  Sources vary as to his final score, some saying 94, Toliver credits him with 101 victories.  He was shot down on 19APR43 by Russian Hurricanes.  Rudolf Müller died in Soviet captivity.

  1. ..very neat! I can’t see the emblem under the cockpit very well here, one close-up photo shows a kitten wearing what one artist has interpreted as a pink bow! Was Müller gay ? He has 94 in Mombeeck’s JG 5 history. As to the manner in which he died that is still undetermined, probably shot while attempting to escape again according to Mombeeck whose JG 5 history is over 1,000 pages and photos

    1. The kitten marking on this one is white with a black bow. Tolliver published in 1977, I’m sure there is much better information now but victory verification is always problematic as you know better than most!
