I remember someone had shared a story about the Normandie. I will have to find it on my numerous blogs. What I remember was that he was there in New York when the Normandie docked. Then he had witnessed the fire or something like that.

Shipyard fires are unfortunately not uncommon, it is relatively easy for welders to start fires in adjoining compartments and the firefighting equipment and compartmentalization of the ship is often compromised.
