My first encounter with the Crusader was in the late 50s when I built Revell’s 1/720 scale USS Essex CV-9. Quite small. I was 11 years-old. That’s the reason I have Monogram F-8 in my precious collection of unbuilt model kits.

Yes, rudder is to the right in the photo. I had never noticed the small air scoop there before.
