This rather uniquely camouflaged aircraft was originally assigned to III./JG 11 but suffered damage. After repairs it was re-assigned to 2./JG 301 and was repainted with JG 301’s Reich’s Defense fuselage band, but with the order of the colors reversed.
Jeff, that’s a really lovely model! Very nice.
I’ve read that the JG 301 a/c with “flipped” tail bands were transfers from JG 11, which carried a solid yellow RVD band that was a bit narrower than the regulation 900mm. Adding the red in front avoided having to add any yellow.
