Arma Hobby Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate “Frank” of the 29th Sentai in 1/72 Scale

The 29th Sentai was based on Formosa.  The Sentai arrow marking was rendered in different colors for the various Chutai, but blue was typically the color reserved for the Headquarters flight.

  1. Beautiful build and such a striking scheme Jeff.
    – Did you do that blue arrow/flash with decals or paint.?
    – Is the airframe painted with Tamiya flat aluminum lacquer?
    – I love the subtle chipping on the anti-glare section in front of the canopy.;

    1. Thanks Warren! I had the Sentai marking on an old SuperScale sheet, but it cracked pretty bad. The marking is masked on this model, which is a better way to do it anyway. The finish is Alclad Aluminum with DullCote.

  2. Hi Jeff,

    I notice no identifying markings on the plane. Was that for a reason?

    Really enjoying your descriptions of the various planes and some of their history.
