This is a rather unique and interesting book. A number of Second World War German infantry weapons are described in detail with a full development history and period photographs to help tell the story. Then the weapons are taken out to the field by reenactors in full period kit and test-fired per Wehrmacht tactical doctrine from a variety of positions. Next the weapons are field stripped. All this is documented with large color photographs showing each step.
Weapons covered are:
Mauser Schnellfeuer-Pistole
Machinenen Pistole 40/I
Machinenegewehr 34
Machinenegewehr 42
Fallschirmjaegergewehr 42/I
Fallschirmjaegergewehr 42/II
Sturmgewehr 44
Most of us will never have the opportunity to go into the field and test-fire an assortment of automatic weapons, this is the next best thing to being there. I found this book at a clearance sale and did not hesitate to pay the $2.00 asking price. Nice book, outstanding bargain!
