    1. Those cover the valve rockers on top of the engine cylinders. It was a fairly common way to design cowlings during the 1930’s but must have been expensive to produce.

  1. Long a fan of all things Macchi – and love these pics! I was at the museum last summer but my lowly cell phone camera could not overcome the atrocious dark lighting in the place.
