Revell HMCS Snowberry Flower Class Corvette in 1/72 Scale

This is the well-known Flower-class Corvette kit first released by Matchbox in 1979, and re-boxed here by Revell.  This example was from the basic molds, not one of the enhanced or upgraded kits.  The kit is very crude by today’s standards both in molding quality and accuracy of many of the details.  This was built for a friend who wanted to use it for wargaming with the intention of an out of the box build, but I couldn’t resist improving several of the parts.

Of course, the Kaiju attack is inevitable when one has children!

  1. Wow, Jeff! Amazing build. i’m curious about the artwork on the main battery. Was this a common practice in the R.N.? Also, is there a good source for aftermarket details?

  3. Just a terrific build. And helpful perspective in the last shot. Unless your daughter is extremely tiny that’s a big model!
I do love the functional simplicity of the corvette. Makes me want to load up War in the Pacific again…

      1. That is big! Now you just need to do a destroyer to go with it. I’ve seen the model of the Nevada used in Tora! Tora! Tora! (NASM? It’s been a while) I believe that was also 1/72 scale. That was really big!
