  1. Hi! I recently went to the air force museum and saw this plane, and I was wondering if you knew what the metal plate with holes in the first two pictures was for. I haven’t been able to find anything else on it.

    1. The sensor on the port side of the nose is the AN/ASD-5 Black Crow, it detected the electrical signal from the ignition wires of a vehicle engine. The perforated plate is an air deflector to divert the airstream away from the AN/ASQ-24A tracking set.
